ORTHODONTICS (INVISALIGN or BAND AND WIRE)

I have been treating adult orthodontic patients with Invisalign, the past couple of years. There are no brackets, bands or wires. The tooth movement is produced with a series of almost invisible plastic aligners that fit over the teeth. Each set moves the teeth toward the desired goal, with the results being very similar to full-banded orthodontics, with minimal discomfort, and much less decay and decalcification of teeth. Over one million patients in the US have been treated with Invisalign, with results that are very similar to band and wire orthodontics. The fee for Invisalign is fairly similar to traditional orthodontics, with more and more insurance carriers paying for a portion of the Invisalign treatment. Besides treating many patients with Invisalign, Rachel, one of my assistants, and I are both in active Invisalign treatment.

I generally do minor orthodontic treatment in the kids with mixed dentition (baby teeth and some permanent teeth). I usually use removable appliances to help make room for developing permanent teeth, but occasionally a fixed appliance in some cases. I know some excellent orthodontists to whom I refer some of my more difficult cases.
